We’re Rugged Land, a brush clearing and wildfire mitigation service located in southeastern Washington. If you own overgrown acreage, have thick hawthorn thickets, or trees too close for comfort, you’re in the right place.

Our Mission
We started Rugged Land with a clear mission: help rural landowners like you reclaim your property while reducing wildfire risk. It’s not just about cleaning things up — it’s about protecting your home, your land, and your loved ones. When you think about it, your property is more than land; it’s a refuge. Keeping it safe from wildfires is our priority.
What We Do
We specialize in creating defensible space. This is the buffer zone around your home or structures that slows or stops wildfire spread. Following the NFPA guidelines and Firewise best practices is essential. We help you meet these recommended standards so you can feel confident about your land’s safety.

How We Operate
How do we accomplish this? We use heavy-duty tools combined with a boots-on-the-ground work ethic. Our track steer (also known as a skid steer) comes equipped with attachments like a brush cutter, tree grubber, and root grapple. This allows us to handle even the most challenging overgrowth, from thorny underbrush to invasive saplings.
Our Services
In addition to creating defensible space, our services also include:
Removing thick brush and unwanted trees
Pulling roots to prevent regrowth
Clearing access roads and trails
Opening up pasture land
Tidying up fence lines
Sustainable and Practical Solutions
One thing we take pride in is our commitment to sustainability. We don’t just haul everything to the dump. Instead, we believe in working with the land, not against it. Whenever possible, we repurpose removed trees into firewood, lumber, or even custom wood projects at our offsite sawmill.

This eco-friendly approach provides a sustainable way to manage your property. It also adds value to what would otherwise be waste.
The Importance of Fire Mitigation
Fire mitigation is not just about clearing land; it’s about protecting lives and property. Wildfires can spread rapidly, especially in areas with overgrown vegetation. By taking proactive measures, you can create a safer environment for yourself and your neighbors.
