Frequently Asked Questions
Is Rugged Land locally owned and operated?
Yes, Rugged Land is proudly locally owned and operated. We live and work right here in the Walla Walla Valley, and we're committed to serving our community with honest, dependable land services.
What services does Rugged Land provide?
We specialize in brush clearing, wildfire mitigation, small-scale grading, and custom lumber services. We work with property owners to create defensible space, reclaim overgrown land, and put natural resources to better use.
How much land can you clear?
Because of our small two-person crew, Rugged Land specializes in smaller acreage jobs — typically up to 2 acres. This focused approach allows us to deliver high-quality, detail-oriented work tailored to each property.
How much does brush clearing cost?
Pricing is based on a combination of factors including acreage, brush density, terrain, and the type of equipment required. For lighter jobs, rates may start lower, while dense brush or rocky terrain that requires specialized attachments will be priced accordingly. To make sure you know exactly what to expect, we provide free on-site estimates tailored to your property and goals.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes — we offer free, no-obligation estimates. We’ll walk your property with you, assess your needs, and explain your options.
What kind of equipment do you use?
We use professional-grade equipment, including a tracked skid steer with a root grapple, tree grubber, and brush cutter attachments. This allows us to clear land efficiently without unnecessary damage to healthy trees or soil.
Can you help reduce wildfire risk?
Yes — wildfire mitigation is a core part of what we do. We create defensible space around homes and structures, remove ladder fuels, and thin vegetation using Firewise-recommended practices (without claiming affiliation).
What happens to the brush and debris?
We can either haul it away with our dump trailer or pile it for you to burn or compost. We’ll work with your preference and local fire regulations.
Do you offer custom lumber milling?
Yes. We operate a sawmill and offer rough-cut lumber at $0.50 per board foot, with kiln drying available for an additional fee. Turn your downed trees into usable boards instead of waste.
Can you build custom wood projects?
Yes. We take on select custom woodwork projects, many of which are based on plans that clients find online but don’t have the tools or skills to build themselves. Pricing typically ranges from $40 to $70 per hour, depending on project complexity.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Rugged Land is fully licensed, insured, and bonded in Washington state. You’re in good hands.
