What Makes Rugged Land's Custom Lumber Service Different?
We use your own timber.
You’re not just buying lumber—you’re reclaiming it from your land. It’s more affordable than buying retail, and there’s no better way to preserve the character of your property.
We mill to order.
Need 2x6s for a lean-to? Slabs for benches? Fence boards? We cut to your specifications. You tell us what you need, and we make it happen.
It’s sustainable and local.
Our milling process takes place right on your property or ours. We don’t ship wood across states or rely on large lumberyards. That keeps the cost down—and the impact low.
We offer kiln drying.
Want to build with dry, stable lumber? We offer kiln drying as an add-on service, ideal for projects like furniture or siding.
Custom Lumber FAQ
Q: What kind of wood can I use?
A: We mill most softwoods and hardwoods common to eastern Washington: fir, pine, larch, maple, walnut, and more. If you’re unsure about your logs, we’ll take a look and advise you.
Q: What does it cost?
Rough cut green lumber is $0.50 per board foot.
Kiln drying is an additional $100 flat fee per load.
Q: Do I need a full load of logs?
A: No. We’ll work with as few or as many logs as you have. Some customers just need a few boards milled for a small project—others are building cabins or barns.
Q: Can you haul the logs for me?
A: Yes. If you don’t have a way to move your logs, we can help arrange transport using our equipment and dump trailer. Additional fees apply.
Q: Can I sell the lumber you mill for me?
A: Yes, as long as it's not structural lumber for permitted construction (which requires grading). For fencing, siding, sheds, art, and firewood—absolutely.
Q: Do I have to use trees from my property?
A: Not at all. If you have logs from another source or purchased timber, we can still mill it for you.
